Replication

Used to duplication file directory netlogon on more server (backup domain controllers) . Directory netlogon contains logon script, system policy and common used file (read only). In case this all is storage on one server, failure can mean problem with logon. Storage on more server means better and quicker accessibility (multiple access for resources). Use for balance loads between multiple server.

Administrative tools - Server manager - click server (or computer - properties) - Replication

Export Directories - Select on Export Server and can change path for export directories.
Import Directories - Select on Import Server and can change path for Import directories.
To List - Export to Domain or select computer.
From List - Import from Domain or select computer.

Export Server

Export directories from %systemroot%\system32\repl\export to import directories %systemroot%\system32\import on import server

Only Windows NT Server.

Files in directory export cannot replicated, only directory and subdirectory with files can be replicated. Not files directly in export directory.

Managing Export

Locks - If you lock directories, cannot be exported.
Stabilize - After changes not exported during stabilize time.
Subtree - Replicated directory include subdirectory.

Step by Step - export

User manager - Creating new account - all logon hours, added to Backup operator and Replicator, Password never expires

setting service directory replicator - (server manager - select import computer - menu computer - services) - startup type automatic, use this account and type password

place directories to export folder

Import Server

Windows NT Server, Windows NT Workstation, Microsoft LAN Manager OS/2 Server.

Managing Import

Lock - Lock directory cannot be imported.
Status - OK - Server receiving update. No Master - Server not receiving update (export server not run). No sync - receive but data is not all (open files, or incorrect permission). Nothing - not receiving (communication failure - incorrect configuration).
Last Update - Date and time last update.

Step by Step - import

Default Share for replication and login

Repl$ - %systemroot%\system32\repl\Export (used with service directory replicator)

NETLOGON - %systemroot%\system32\repl\Import\Scripts

Settings replicator

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Replicator\Parameters

Interval (default 5min) - check directories for changes (1-60)

GuardTime (Default 2 min) - stabilize time (0 - interval/2)
