Network
Adapter - Selection of network card driver, wide range of drivers is a part of Windows, but addition of the driver from a diskette is more often used. As much more the network card is added through "Add new hardware" icon in control panels. In case of contemporary cards they are detected by itself thanks Plug and Play standard and they ask for the diskette with drivers
immediately at the start.
Phone adapter - Necessary for connection to Internet using a modem.
Generally no special configuration required (all parameters are assigned by the server that we are connected to). You can find it in Microsoft adapters. You
don't have to add this adapter in case you use network connection through network card.
Driver
Type -Selection of 32 bit NDIS driver that is designated for most new adapters, in exceptional cases it is possible to prove and use 16 bit NDIS driver or 16 bit
ODI.

Advanced

Protocol
Installation of network protocols. Diverse languages for communication among the computers in the network.
There can be more than one protocol installed in the computer. But for communication using particular protocol the specific protocol has to be installed on both communicating computers. Installation of the protocol you
don't use is not eligible therefore only one protocol is usually installed and
configured.
TCP/IP protocol family - Main protocol for Internet and computer networks with Windows NT servers Associates dozen of protocols (DHCP, IP, UDP, TCP, ICMP, DNS, ARP and many others). Enables connection to another operating systems, e. g. Unix.
IPX/SPX standard protocol -
Routed protocol used especially for networks with Netware servers. Easy configuration. Necessary for use with
NetWare clients.
NetBEUI
- Not possible to routed. It is configured and optimalized by itself. Very little memory demands. For small networks. For communication among computers it uses non-address messages (broadcast).
DLC
- used for communication with (mainframe)

Configuration
protocol TCP/IP
For most settings in networks it is necessary to get the parameters from the network administrator. It is valid especially in the networks connected to Internet, in case you test this at home you can make up the parameters and you
don't have to enter all the parameters.
IP

WINS Configuration - Designation of IP address of the WINS server (executes fast translation of the NetBIOS names to IP addresses).
DNS Configuration - Designation of IP address of the DNS server (executes translation of DNS names to IP addresses). And the name of the host (e. g. deny) and the domain (e. g. atlguide2000.com)
Gateway
- Computer or device (Router) providing access to another networks (e. g. Internet)
Bindings
- Specification of the network services with which the protocol should be used.
