A new version of an older product Shared Computer Toolkit designed for advanced administration of computers used by multiple users (so-called shared computers) that are located in public places, classrooms etc. (but can also be used at home or in a company). Windows SteadyState enables extended control over the administration and restrictions on a PC running Windows XP (the version for Windows Vista is being finalised). It protects the settings, system and data from unauthorized manipulation. Some of its features are: disk protection, easy setup of restrictions for the PC and its users, security settings including antivirus and updates, options for blocking certain applications. It is designed for smaller networks. In larger networks, it is recommended that you use the domain environment and a GPO.
