Spyware (spy software) - a program that carries out an activity, usually without the user's knowledge. A typical activity of such program is silent collecting and reporting of personal information about the user. The user him/herself has to decide if the program, installed by clicking on a button and confirming the installation, is harmful or friendly. However, users usually pay no attention to terms and conditions and that is how spyware becomes a legal and theoretically "harmless" program.
